Noisy Opener Types

It can be frustrating and quite irritating to have a loud garage door opener, though there are many reasons that could cause this noisiness. If your door has a chain drive opener, know that this is the nosiest out of all other opener systems out there, and could be contributing to the overall noise your door makes. If you have an older screw drive opener, also know that this type of system can be just as noisy as the chain drive ones after years of use. These are typically the most common issues with opener noises, but there are many others out there as well. Quiet Solutions for Noisy Openers

No matter what is causing your garage door opener to be noisy, there are many solutions out there to muffle it. The most obvious solution yet possibly the most expensive would be to switch to a belt drive opener system, which is the quietest of all the others. Cheaper and faster solutions would be to insert rubber pads between your ceiling and your garage’s motor mounts, tightening loose bolts that might make an awful rattling noise, replace your rollers, or even adjust or lubricate your chain drive system.
